2018 Chevron Design Challenge

El Camino College recently welcomed area high school students who participated in the 2018 Los Angeles South Bay Regional Chevron Design Challenge. Students had the opportunity to gain real-world experience at this daylong design competition where Project Lead The Way (PLTW) California high school students put their creativity to the test. Working in teams of three, students used what they learned in class to compete against other high school students to create an innovative item based on a design brief they were given that morning. The design brief asked for a design solution to a problem, complete with drawings and 3-D modeling. All students presented their design solution to a panel of engineering judges; the top three teams from each region are now invited to compete in the statewide competition in Pleasanton on May 5.
