Manhattan Beach Rotary Helps Warrior Pantry

Many thanks to the generosity of the Manhattan Beach Rotary Club and its 107 members who participated in a food drive to benefit the Warrior Pantry's temporary Warrior Cupboard, a twice-weekly drive-thru distribution of groceries and toiletries. Rotary Club volunteers dropped off a large supply of food, essential supplies, and donated more than $2,000 during spring recess. A longtime supporter of El Camino College, the Manhattan Beach Rotary Club has awarded tens of thousands of dollars in scholarships through the years to help students who struggle to meet basic needs.

The Warrior Cupboard's drive-thru service features delivery directly to students' cars in compliance with state social distancing directives to address the acceleration of COVID-19. The curbside service has been especially helpful for many students who say that the additional supplies help with basic food needs and meal planning. The Warrior Cupboard has served more than 725 students since its March 24 launch and is open from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Tuesdays and Wednesdays in Parking Lot B, accessed from Manhattan Beach Boulevard.
