In keeping with El Camino College's long tradition of helping others, assistance is available for students during the holidays. Members of the ECC community are invited to help celebrate the holidays with the 20th Annual CARE/CalWORKs Holiday Recruitment & Retention Celebration, set for Tuesday, Dec. 11. By donating a new, unwrapped gift or toy for a child age 1 to 18, we can all add to the festivities. For the 20th anniversary of this celebration, a "Toy Wonderland" is planned for the event, so CARE and CalWORKs parents can help Santa pick the perfect toy(s) for their children, have gifts wrapped by our staff, and then take them home to open with their families. Currently, there are 114 boys and 110 girls invited to the event – all donations are appreciated! This year, an Amazon Registry has been created to gather gifts, along with various toy drives on campus. Any and all gifts are greatly appreciated! Please keep toys/gifts under $40. Monetary donations in any amount are also welcome. In addition, by using Amazon Smile, the ECC Foundation can receive a portion of profits of eligible items purchased. What a great way to give – gifts given this holiday to a future ECC student can also help our current students. Donations of new and unwrapped toys can also be brought to the ECC Police lobby. All donations gathered by police will be given to the families of ECC's CARE and CalWORKs students. Please bring all donations to campus and place orders by Tuesday, December 11, 2018. Students who need extra assistance with food during the holidays are encouraged to visit the Warrior Pantry, which is stocked with healthy and nutritious nonperishable food items. The on-campus food bank can be used by all currently enrolled El Camino College students needing assistance. In addition, donations are currently requested to help stock the shelves for the holidays.
