More Than 1,250 Students Attend "Extreme Registration"

El Camino College welcomed 1,259 students to an on-campus summer event where they registered for an average of 11 units each for the fall semester. The successful "Extreme Registration" experience ran the week of Aug. 16 and was designed to help students complete the registration process with in-person assistance in the Student Services building and outside plaza. In addition, more than $140,000 in bookstore gift cards was awarded to students as part of the college's effort to help cover the cost of textbooks, supplies, and other educational materials that are critical for student success.

While following safety protocols for campus events, El Camino's "Extreme Team" also offered express counseling, financial aid and application assistance, and other essential support. Students had the opportunity to learn about navigating the college experience, employment opportunities, and support programs. Due to the effects of the pandemic, El Camino has been making adjustments to the ways students are served. Many events and services have moved to an online format in the past year; our virtual information desk is a great way to connect. Offices in the Student Services building have resumed in-person service hours, providing one more way to connect with students to ensure everyone has what they need. Watch for another "Extreme Registration" later this semester to assist spring students, along with College Night planned for later this fall.
