Schauerman Library News

The El Camino College Schauerman Library’s Electronic Reserves System or ERes provides easy, round-the-clock, Web-based access to selected course materials that are placed on reserve. In accordance with copyright law and the principles of fair use, ERes offers materials in support of classroom teaching, including:

  • Articles from magazines and journals, including articles from ECC subscription databases
  • Other documents from ECC subscription databases
  • Class notes
  • Copies of past tests
  • Course syllabi
  • Homework solution sets

One of the great features of ERes is that many students can access the same materials at one time, and the electronic materials cannot be damaged, lost, or stolen, unlike traditional print reserves. ERes is particularly beneficial for distance learners since they, by definition, do not come to campus regularly for class, and without the electronic reserve system option, would have to visit the ECC library for access to reserve materials.

Faculty: if you have used the ERes system before and wish to use it for an upcoming term, please contact [email protected] as soon as possible. If you are new to ERes, please contact Moon Ichinaga, the library’s electronic reserves manager, to obtain detailed information about working with ERes.
