Meet Steve Sarkisian
Are you ready for some football? Torrance native Steve Sarkisian is a 1994 El Camino College alumnus and football standout who is currently the head football coach at the University of Washington. At ECC, he was named a junior college All-American after setting a national junior college record by completing 72.4 percent of his passes. Sarkisian transferred to Brigham Young University and played quarterback, where his completion percentage in the game (91.2 percent) set a NCAA record. After graduation he played professionally in the Canadian Football League and then went on to coach pro and college football. His coaching career began in 2000 when he returned to ECC as quarterbacks coach. He also coached for USC and the Oakland Raiders, before taking the head coach position at the University of Washington in 2009.
