Warriors Together: A Message from President Maloney

As we all continue to find new ways to thrive in our ever-changing environment, many students are also preparing to graduate and navigate their future. Congratulations to the Class of 2020 on your upcoming graduation and for making history at El Camino College. Your experience as a Warrior is truly unique and your determination to succeed is absolutely impressive. We look forward to celebrating your achievements at a virtual commencement ceremony in June. This online event is designed to commemorate this important milestone in a meaningful way, bringing us together, as Warriors.

We have all forged new paths in virtual instruction and online learning. I applaud our students for their tenacity in finishing their studies this semester among today’s many uncertainties. I also commend our faculty and staff for connecting with students via multiple platforms, while facilitating their success.

As you know, all instruction for the 2020 summer term will be delivered remotely. Most of these classes will be scheduled as an online course, with some having set meeting days and times and virtual attendance required by the instructor. For fall 2020, most classes will be delivered remotely, with options to include in-person instruction and also hybrid courses, which combine online and face-to-face instruction, if possible. Looking forward, enhanced cleaning procedures, along with proper social distancing measures, personal hygiene, and workstation maintenance, will be essential in preparing for a time when we return to campus.

These are surely challenging times, but the Warrior family continues to find ways to help each other, offering support in many ways. From virtual wellness workshops and online SEA Village check-in sessions to Warrior Pantry donations and the success of the El Camino Student Emergency Fund, it is clear that our campus and community care about our students. These are just a few examples of the many ways we have come together to support students and each other, and for that, I am infinitely grateful. Please continue to stay safe and be well.
