COVID-19 Vaccination Mandated

The El Camino Community College District Board of Trustees voted unanimously to require that all students, faculty, and staff be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, the disease caused by the 2019 novel coronavirus, before the start of winter classes. This action aligns with the guidance and public health recommendations issued by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), California Department of Public Health, and the L.A. County Department of Public Health, which all state that vaccination is the most effective approach to mitigating and preventing the transmission of COVID-19.

El Camino College employees must provide proof of vaccination by November 8, 2021; students have until January 3, 2022, the first day of winter classes. Accommodations will be considered for individuals who may be exempt from this mandate due to medical and religious reasons, but employees should first discuss their work assignment with their immediate supervisor. The District's decision came after months of public discussions, input from faculty and staff, and monitoring of positive cases reported on campus and throughout the County of Los Angeles. All currently enrolled students and employees can access campus vaccination services by contacting Student Health Services to schedule an appointment to receive the free Johnson & Johnson vaccine.
