The Guided Pathways Winter Summit on Feb. 12 brought faculty, staff, administrators and students together to learn more about our new meta-major success teams. The third annual winter summit introduced the "success teams" concept, which will launch this semester for each meta-major. Success teams are groups comprising of faculty, counselors, staff, administrators, and students who work to build community and increase student success in each meta-major. Teams will use data to identify students who need support, plan proactive solutions to provide support to these students, and then make assessments to see whether students are more successful through these strategies.
Established this past fall, meta-majors are groups of related majors that have common prerequisites, core requirements, or goals that can help students choose their major and find a path to achieve their educational goals.
Thank you to faculty coordinators Jenny Simon, Janice Pon-Ishikawa and Maria Garcia for organizing the engaging Guided Pathways Summit. The college's Guided Pathways framework is designed to ensure the college is ready to meet students where they are, with a personalized path to success. The framework is based on intentionally designed clear and coherent structured educational experiences that promote better enrollment decisions and prepares students for future success.
