Application Procedure

The new application period for the Radiologic Technology program will be in the fall semester to begin a new class of students each spring semester.

Program Application Period

Due to a recent change in the School website - the APPLICATION DATE has been delayed to OCT 11 to OCT 29, 2021. Forms and document will be uploaded soon.

  • The COVID-19 pandemic has greatly affected the current program students clinical hours and course offering sequencing- which resulted in a longer than expected program completion time for the Class of 2021 & 2022. Therefore - we will not have the space to begin a new group of student until spring 2022.
  • The number of  accepted students for the next class and the start time were delayed by one semester due to the delays with the COVID-19 pandemic.


Application Process

In order to file an application, you must have completed all required courses on the Rad Tech Course Evaluation Worksheet.


The application is a fillable form for fall 2021 that will be filled out by the applicant and submitted online. You will not see a counselor to file the application this year.

You must fill out all necessary information along with uploading any required documentation (in PDF format) for the application to be complete. 

Make sure you have ALL supporting documents saved and ready to upload when preparing the application. (see Checklist for Instructions)

Once you hit the SUBMIT button you cannot go back into the application.  


List of Documents & Applications Instructions You Will Need  

  • Use the following Application Checklist to prepare your documents for filing the Radiologic Technology Program Application.
  • Save and upload all documents in PDF format.
    • Use can use an app such as Adobe Scan or MS Office Lens to create a PDF file from your phone. Any app that will save your files to PDF that you can send to an email will work.


Here is a short list of some of the items you will need:

  • Photo Identification Card:  California Driver’s License  (CDL) or state-issued ID card 
  • El Camino College Student ID card (if you have one)
  • Cover Letter
  • Resume
  • 2 Letters of Recommendation
  • Transcripts (copies) for All Prerequisite Courses: Unofficial transcripts for now.
    • All required courses on for the pre-requisities classes must be completed and a grade posted at the time the application is submitted. No in-progress courses are allowed.
  • Supporting Documentation for Additional Points (see instructions)
    • Copies of Certificates /Licenses in healthcare-related occupations
    • Letters / forms documenting experience such as
    • Work/Volunteer hours, Radiology Observations, Community Service, etc.
    • American Veteran - Honorable Discharge
    • Note: Points for Observation Hours have been eliminated due to the limited avaliable hospitals to do observation hours.
  • Please use  the Checklist Guide to see what specific documents you will need to submit with your application. Review the information and description on what documentation is needed for each section for the additional points.


  1. All courses must be completed prior to fall 2021 application dates to be eligible to file an application.  No in-progress pre-requistite courses will be accepted.
  2. All of your pre-requisite course  grades have been posted on your transcript.
  3. Once the application is submitted, the counselors will review your transcripts and coursework to determine your GPA and course points.
  4. The application will then be reveiwed by the Rad Tech Program faculty for the remaining areas for points.
  5. You will be notified appproximately by December 11, 2021 of the status of your application.
  6. To complete the application process, once the application is filed online, the applicant must send an email to the Program Director within 48 hours to RadTechDirector@elcamino.edu confirming an application has been filed.  Please see instructions at the end of the application.

Counselor Evaluations

  • The ECC counselors can check your previous course work for articulation with the ECC A.S. degree requirements.
  • If courses are general education courses that were taken at another college, the counselor can evaluate for articulation.
  • The counselor may contact you if they have any questions.


Starting the Program

Applicants will be notified by approximately December 11, 2021 of their application status.

There is mandatory attendance required for applicants who are provisionally accepted into the fall class for two orientation sessions during the winter 2022 session. Dates will be announced.

For Spring 2022 Semester: You will be required to have a laptop or tablet with a camera, microphone and internet access.  With the continuing changes in course delivery due to the COVID-19 pandemic, some lectures and exams will be presented remotely (on-line).  ECC has a limited number of computers to loan to students, but you will need a working internet service off campus to be successful.

  • The Radiologic Technology Program begins a new class of students once each year, beginning in the SPRING SEMESTER.
  • ALL pre-requisite courses listed on the Rad Tech Course Evaluation Worksheet must be COMPLETED prior to filing an application to the program.
  • The number of students selected each year is based on the availability of positions at the clinical sites and is subject to change from year to year.


RTEC-A course is a pre-requisite for the RT Program and must be completed at El Camino College. Introductory courses taken at other institutions will not be considered for transfer, but may be considered towards additional points on the application - see application instructions for details

  • Note:  If you have taken and passed Radiologic Technology courses from other programs, then you should arrange to meet with the Program Director to check your eligibility for enrollment and filing an application to the ECC Radiologic Technology Program.  You may be able to receive credit for some courses,  or may you still be required to complete all pre-requisite courses including RTEC-A Intro to Radiology. This is evaluated on a case by case basis.   You will be required to submit  a letter of recommendation from the Program Director of the other school, that you left in "good standing", with a grade of B or better in the Radiograpy Program courses taken at the other school.
