Onizuka Space Science Day 2020

 Reservations for Onizuka Space Science Day 2020 have reached capacity.

Walk-ins are welcome on the morning of Saturday, March 7, 2020 but there is no guarantee of participation in the breakout sessions or receiving a lunch ticket.

Walk-ins should arrive at 8:30 a.m.

Information for Onizuka Space Science Day 2021 will be available on this website later this year.

Serious-minded science students in Grades 5 through 12 are invited to attend Onizuka Space Science Day 2020 at El Camino College! Students are also invited to enter the Onizuka Space Science Day Arts Contest.

The Ellison S. Onizuka Memorial Committee, El Camino College, and American Honda Motor Co., Inc. sponsor this free, hands-on conference. This year marks the 34th anniversary of the Space Shuttle Challenger accident that took the lives of the seven crew members, including Ellison Onizuka.

Featured Astronaut

This year's featured NASA Astronaut is Mark T. Vande Hei. Vande Hei was the Flight Engineer for the Expedition crew that launched the International Space Station in 2017. He logged 168 days in space and ventured outside the space station on four spacewalks. The total duration of the spacewalks was 26 hours and 42 minutes. Mr. Vande Hei is currently serving as the assistant to the chief astronaut for extravehicular activity and robotics.
