I retired from sworn law enforcement at the rank of lieutenant with the California Highway Patrol. In addition to CHP I was a reserve officer with the Oakland Police Department and completed a Fellowship with the FBI in Washington DC.
During my career I worked a multitude of assignments including patrol, drug task force, auto theft, internal affairs, legal affairs, and risk management to name only a few. I am an active member of the California Peace Officers Association as well as the International Association of Chiefs' of Police.
I have been in higher education since 2008 teaching as an adjunct at Folsom Lake College prior to five years full-time at El Camino College. In 2017 I moved into administration at another college but continue to teach here part-time.
I earned my doctorate in Education, a master's degree in Public Administration, bachelor's degree in Business, and associates degrees in Administration of Justice and Business Administration. I’ve earned all of my college degrees while working full time, raising a family, and attending primarily night school. As such I understand the unique challenges facing community college students and will make every effort to ensure your success as a student.
