El Camino College invites the community to celebrate the new Administration Building and new Pool Classroom Building with a ribbon-cutting ceremony and a Registration & Resource Fair from 1-3:30 p.m. Feb. 23.

The event is designed to highlight El Camino’s newest buildings and provide an overview of what the college has to offer along with registration support to help students register for spring 2023 eight-week courses or apply for summer and fall 2023 semesters.

The registration and resource fair opens at 1 p.m., the ribbon-cutting at the Pool Classroom Building begins at 1:30 p.m., followed by tours of the facility through 2:20 p.m. The ribbon-cutting ceremony for the Administration Building begins at 2:30 p.m., followed by refreshments at the Administration Building. The event flyer is available to view online.

Supported by funds from the voter-approved Measure E facilities bond, the new Administration Building and Pool Classroom Building are part of an ambitious construction plan that has modernized and changed the look of the campus through the past 20 years. Grand opening events for these facilities had been postponed due to COVID-19 safety protocols; the college is now delighted to welcome the community to campus for the celebration.

The Administration Building is a modern 27,000-square-foot structure located along Crenshaw Boulevard on the site of the original administrative offices. The new $32.9 million building opened in summer 2020 and houses the Board of Trustees meeting room and offices for various administrators, including the president and vice presidents, as well as the offices for Institutional Research & Planning, the Foundation, and Marketing & Communications.

The new $50 million Pool Classroom Building opened in spring 2021. This 81,200-square-foot-facility houses classrooms, offices, and two indoor pools for instructional use and athletic competition for El Camino swim, diving, and water polo teams. The facility also includes the Health Sciences & Athletics Division office.

The El Camino Community College District encourages persons with disabilities to participate in its programs and activities. If you anticipate needing any type of accommodation, or have questions about the physical access provided, please email as soon as possible, but no later than seven days prior to the event.
