El Camino College Fashion Department to Present “Reflections”
El Camino College students will debut their original designs at the 2024 Student Fashion Show “Reflections” on June 3 in Haag Recital Hall. In addition to showcasing one-of-a-kind fashions on the runway, the annual event will feature an opportunity drawing and reception at 6:30 p.m. The show begins at 7 p.m.
Students in the college’s “Fashion Show Production and Promotions” class organized and put the show together. Five student committees tackled the work: design/merchandising, modeling, promotion, finance/secretary, and staging. Event-planning principles, detail management, and collaboration were skills students learned as they produced the fashion show as their final project.
El Camino’s fashion program offers two degrees and three certificates, preparing students for careers in a variety of fields. Classes cover all aspects of the industry, including clothing construction, fashion illustration, pattern making, draping, computer-aided fashion design, and manufacturing. Students also learn about presentation techniques, planning, promotion, fashion coordination, advertising, and sales in merchandising classes.
The El Camino Community College District encourages persons with disabilities to participate in its programs and activities. If you anticipate needing any type of accommodation, or have questions about the physical access provided, please contact [email protected] as soon as possible.
Proceeds from the “Reflections” fashion show will be used to fund next year’s event and will contribute to a scholarship that will be awarded to one up-and-coming high school student in the area.
