El Camino College is Honored with Cisco Networking Academy 25 Years of Service Award

June 4, 2025 Torrance, CA

El Camino College was recently honored with the prestigious Cisco Networking Academy 25 Years of Service Award, recognizing the college’s exemplary dedication and positive impact in supporting student success and improving the communities it serves.

The Cisco Program at El Camino College was designed to prepare students who are considering changing careers or pursuing new opportunities with real-world skills and knowledge. Students can complete the program in three classes while receiving hands-on experience to build the skills they need for associate-level job roles such as network administrator, system administrator, or network engineer. They also prepare to take the Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) certification exam, an industry-recognized credential that validates their expertise and opens professional opportunities.

“For 25 years, Cisco has been a reliable partner with delivering information technology skills for our students and our local community,” said Virginia Rapp, El Camino’s dean of the Business Division. “We look forward to continuing the collaboration between Cisco and El Camino College for many more years to come.”

Through the program, students learn and practice the skills needed to install, configure, and maintain internet-based networking technologies. Faculty member Steven Corbin said that the Cisco Academy provides essential networking concepts that build a strong foundation for cybersecurity and cloud computing.

“Cisco Academy students consistently appreciate the curriculum’s flexibility and affordability, particularly the Packet Tracer labs,” he added.

Faculty member Khai Lu noted that Cisco provides pathways for students to grow and adapt.

“When our students learn Cisco, they learn to develop the mindset of how to be successful in the information technology space,” he said. “I’m always running into former students who tell me how transformative Cisco has been for their career and their lives.”

The Cisco program prepared El Camino alumnus Michael Kim for a role as a systems administrator at UCLA Hospital.

“The skills I learned at El Camino College helped me advance my career and keep a competitive edge,” he said.
