El Camino College Student Selected for National JEN Honors Jazz Ensemble

December 4, 2025 Torrance, CA

TORRANCE, Calif. — El Camino College proudly announces that our very own Applied Music student Aidan Jennings has been selected to perform with the Jazz Education Network (JEN) Intercollegiate Community College Honors Jazz Ensemble, debuting at the annual JEN Conference in New Orleans, January 7-10, 2026.

This marks the first year JEN has created a national honors ensemble specifically for community college musicians. Students from across the country submitted competitive audition materials for the opportunity to participate in this inaugural group. Aidan’s selection places him among the top community college jazz musicians in the nation.

In addition, three other El Camino College Music Majors earned recognition as official alternates for the ensemble:

  1. Max Hughes, bass
  2. Alejandro Gonzales, tenor saxophone
  3. Jacob Iverson, baritone saxophone

Being named alternates in a nationally selected ensemble represents a significant achievement and highlights the outstanding talent within El Camino College’s Music program.

“We are incredibly proud of Aidan, Max, Alejandro, and Jacob,” said David Moyer, Director of Jazz Studies and Coordinator of the Applied Music Program at ECC. “Their dedication, preparation, and artistry shine through in opportunities like this, and we are thrilled to see them recognized on a national stage.”

The JEN Conference is one of the largest annual gatherings for jazz education, performance, and professional development, bringing together students, educators, and renowned musicians from around the world. The new Intercollegiate Community College Honors Jazz Ensemble celebrates and elevates the contributions of community college performers within the jazz community.

El Camino College congratulates all four students for their remarkable accomplishments and looks forward to cheering on Aidan as he performs in New Orleans this January.
