El Camino College Students Awarded Fashion Scholarship Fund (FSF) Scholarship
Congratulations to three El Camino students for winning the annual Fashion Scholarship Fund’s (FSF) Community College Scholarship. Daniela Franco, Trinity Rodriguez, and Brisha Herbert will receive a $5,000 scholarship, and will be paired with FSF alumni as mentors. The award winners will also participate in an intensive career awareness and skills-building program, including an all-expense-paid Summer Industry Immersive Program.
The Fashion Scholarship Fund is the foremost fashion-oriented education and workforce development nonprofit organization in the U.S. Judges were impressed by the caliber of work submitted by El Camino students, noting, “the storytelling in each student's personal video was exceptional, providing insight into their challenges, achievements, and passion for a fashion career.” Part of the FSF Community Colleges Initiative, the scholarship program reflects the industry’s interest in expanding the pipeline of talented future employees. Community college students pursuing studies in general areas applicable to the fashion industry (including marketing and business operations) are eligible.
El Camino College offers an associate degree and certificate in fashion, led by program coordinator and professor Dr. Vera Ashley. Internship opportunities and the active Tailor Made Fashion Club are also available. All are invited to view our students’ original work at the annual Fashion Show, set for June 4.
