Student Development - Service Area Outcomes (SAOs)

Service Area Outcome #1 - ASO/ICC/SEAC Personal Leadership Impact 

Students involved in student organizations will understand their personal leadership styles and build confidence in their abilities as student leaders.

  1. SAO Status: Active
  2. Input Date: August 1, 2020
  3. Pre/Post Test – Student organization leaders will complete a leadership assessment at summer retreat and then retake the leadership assessment at the winter retreat. The survey items to be assessed are “I know and understand how my personal leadership style” and “I am confident in my ability as a leader.”
  4. Target/Standard for SAO - It is expected that students will report a 5% increase in answering strongly agree or agree from pre-test to post-test for both statements.  It is also expected that at least 90% of students will answer strongly agree or agree to both statements on the post-test.
  5. SDO participants – Debbie Allison, Chris Dela Cruz, Greg Toya

Services Area Outcome #2 - ASO/ICC/SEAC Campus Impact

Students involved in student government will understand their ability to impact the campus community based on their participation in student government and college governance.

  1. SAO Status: Active
  2. Input Date: August 1, 2020
  3. Pre/Post Test – ASO and ICC leaders will complete a leadership assessment at summer retreat and then retake the leadership assessment at the winter retreat. The survey items to be assessed are “I understand how my role as a student leader impacts the campus community” and “I understand how my role as a student leader impacts students.”
  4. Target/Standard for SAO - It is expected that students will report a 5% increase in answering strongly agree or agree from pre-test to post-test for both statements.  It is also expected that at least 90% of students will answer strongly agree or agree to both statements on the post-test.

Service Area Outcome #3 - Warrior Pantry

The Student Development Office will assist students in combating food insecurities through providing non-perishable foods, toiletries, and connections to other campus and community resources.

  1. SAO Status: Active
  2. Input Date: August 1, 2020
  3. Data Analysis – The quantity of students who utilize the Warrior Pantry will be tracked by an established record keeping system.
  4. Target/Standard for SAO - It is expected that over 900 El Camino College students will utilize the Warrior Pantry during the academic year. The Warrior Pantry will increase the number of Federal Work Study students and volunteers to be able to continue to serve the Warrior Pantry patrons in an efficient and safe manner.
