El Camino College Art Gallery Presents Spring Film Series Featuring Award-Winning Films and Artist Q&A Sessions

Throughout the month of March, the El Camino College Art Gallery is presenting a special Spring Film Series this March featuring powerful films exploring themes of identity, creativity, and the human experience. Each screening will include opportunities for attendees to engage directly with filmmakers and artists through live Q&A discussions. The series highlights thought-provoking documentary and independent films and invites students, faculty, and community members to participate in conversations about art, storytelling, and social issues.

The Film Series schedule includes:

Academy Award–Winning Short Documentary Heaven Is a Traffic Jam on the 405
Thursday, March 12 at 1 p.m.
Following the screening, attendees will participate in a Q&A discussion with artist Mindy Alper and director Frank Stiefel. The Oscar-winning documentary tells the moving story of Alper’s journey through mental illness and her transformative artistic career.

Award-Winning Film QUBA!
Tuesday, March 24 at 1 p.m.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A with filmmaker Kim Anno, whose work explores memory, culture, and identity through visually striking storytelling.

The Art Gallery’s Film Series reflects El Camino College’s commitment to showcasing diverse voices and creating opportunities for meaningful dialogue between artists, students, and the community.

All screenings will take place at the El Camino College Art Gallery and are open to students, faculty, and the public.
