Temporary Air Conditioning Reductions
A mechanical issue with one of the campus cooling towers has reduced AC capacity in some buildings. To prevent a larger outage while repairs are made and a temporary tower is installed, Facilities has turned off air conditioning in select areas and may expand reductions if needed. Updates will be provided as conditions change.

Air Conditioning Restored to Buildings Throughout Campus
The Facilities Department worked throughout the weekend to temporarily restore air conditioning to affected buildings throughout campus.
All relocated employees may return to their permanent work locations effective immediately.

CAMPUS ADVISORY: Air Conditioning Out in Some Buildings
Unfortunately, there is a malfunction in the temporary cooling system.
Effective immediately (Friday, Sept. 11), air conditioning has been shut off in the following areas:
- Administration Building
- Communications Building—Second and Third Floors
- Library—Except for the west portion where classes are being held
- Math Building (MBAH)—Faculty offices
- Pool Building
- West Gymnasium
Please defer to your supervisor/manager regarding your workspace options.

Most Campus Cooling Systems are Operational; Relocated Employees May Return to their Offices Friday, Sept. 11
We are pleased to announce that temporary repairs to the campus cooling system have been implemented, and conditions have improved. Permanent repairs should take place next month.
The Math Building (MBAH), Administration Building, Bookstore Building, and the West Gymnasium now have air conditioning! Employees who were temporarily relocated from these buildings may return to their regular offices tomorrow, Friday, September 11.
The Library is also gradually returning to normal operations, with air conditioning restored to most areas. Unfortunately, the Pool Building remains without air conditioning at this time. We anticipate restoration in these areas as early as Monday, September 14, and will share updates as they become available.
Thank you to the Facilities staff for continuing to closely monitor the cooling system to ensure stable operations.

Relocation of Administration Building Employees Continues
Staff members of the Administration Building will continue to remain in their relocated spaces tomorrow, Thursday, September 10 as the temporary cooling system is tested overnight.

Administration Building Employees Temporarily Relocated
Due to a mechanical failure affecting one of the Central Plant cooling towers, the campus is currently operating with reduced cooling capacity.
As part of this effort, a temporary office relocation plan for employees who work in the Administration Building has been created. Please review the plan for the temporary locations and additional guidance.
Facilities is actively working on a temporary cooling solution and will continue to monitor conditions closely and provide updates as circumstances change.

CAMPUS ADVISORY: Temporary Air Conditioning Reductions
Due to a mechanical failure in one of the four cooling towers that operates the air conditioning systems throughout campus, some buildings are currently experiencing reduced cooling capacities. The Facilities Division is working to bring a temporary cooling tower to campus while repairs are made to the malfunctioning tower.
The remaining three cooling towers are operating at full capacity, however, with high temperatures expected to continue, there is a greater strain on the systems. Until the arrival of the temporary fourth cooling tower, the Facilities Division is taking proactive steps to prevent a broader disruption to campus cooling.
Effective immediately, air conditioning is being turned off in the following areas:
- Library – Except for the west portion where classes are being held
- Pool Building – Both floor levels have been turned off
- West Gymnasium
- Administration Building – employees working in all offices/workspaces in the Administration Building will be notified via email regarding where they will be temporarily relocated on campus. Please standby for that communication.
If additional reductions are necessary, air conditioning may also be turned off at the following locations:
- Bookstore
- Portions of MBAH containing faculty offices
These measures are intended to prioritize instructional spaces and essential campus operations while protecting the Central Plant from a larger system shutdown. The Facilities Division will continue monitoring conditions closely and will provide updates as needed.
