Nominations Open for El Camino College 2026 Distinguished Women’s Wall of Fame
The El Camino College Women’s History Month Committee is seeking candidates for the 2026 Distinguished Women’s Wall of Fame.
The Women of Distinction Award recognizes outstanding women from the El Camino College community, selected by the committee each year during March, which is designated Women’s History Month. Award nominations may be made by friends, family, and colleagues; individuals may also nominate themselves.
Those nominated must live or work in the communities within the El Camino Community College District: El Segundo, Hawthorne, Hermosa Beach, Inglewood, Lawndale, Lennox, Manhattan Beach, Redondo Beach and Torrance.
The committee welcomes nominations of all individuals from a diverse range of experiences and backgrounds. Nominees will be judged for their contributions to women’s and girls’ causes at the college or community that align with this year’s National Women’s History Month theme, “Leading the Change: Women Shaping a Sustainable Future.” This theme expands the concept of sustainability beyond environmental concerns as women design blueprints for sustainable transformation by developing green technologies, advancing economic justice, strengthening education systems, and building civic power. Financial sustainability, community resilience, leadership succession, and intergenerational equity are also included in the theme that supports both people and the planet.
The nomination deadline is Feb. 23. The leaders will be honored at the Women’s History Month Reception scheduled for March 26. Honorees will also be featured on the El Camino College Distinguished Women’s Wall of Fame throughout the year, and their names will be engraved on a plaque that remains on the wall permanently.
To nominate a candidate, find more information about this year’s theme, discover a variety of Women’s History Month events on campus, or see a list of previous honorees, view: www.elcamino.edu/events/womens-history-month/index.php.
