Frequently Asked Questions for Employees

The deadline to upload proof of vaccination was January 3, 2022.

Yes and no.

On January 3, 2022, you will need your vaccination information uploaded in the health screening portal to be able to enter buildings on campus and attend in-person courses.

If you have received a vaccination exemption, you will be rapid tested every 48 hours.

You will be asked to schedule a rapid test at the Manhattan Beach Blvd. Modular building for testing every 48 hours or the second time in a week you visit campus.

Testing is required before visiting a building on campus. Please arrive early to allow time for the rapid test result to be read.

At this time, booster shots are not required but are available on campus to students and employees at the Student Health Center.

Beginning Monday, June 20, 2022 (and until further notice), masks will be required in classrooms, lecture halls, auditoriums (i.e. Marsee Theatre), and labs as outlined in the class syllabus. They are also required in the Student Health Center. In all other areas of the campus, masks will be optional, but strongly recommended.

The safety of El Camino College students, staff and faculty is the College’s highest priority. As a result, the College strongly recommends wearing a mask.

Note: masking requirements are subject to change as conditions of the COVID-19 pandemic change.

For those employees, both full-time and part-time, seeking a vaccination exemption or other COVID-related procedure exemption, a process map was developed to help individuals navigate the process.

If your exemption is approved you will be asked to schedule a rapid test at the Manhattan Beach Blvd. Modular building for testing every 48 hours or the second time in a week you visit campus.

Testing is required before visiting a building on campus. Please arrive early to allow time for the rapid test result to be read.

Employees who request an exemption and/or deferral that is not approved by the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Compliance Officer may choose to:

  1. Get vaccinated
  2. Request eligible paid leave, if accrued time available.
  3. Request unpaid (personal) leave.
  4. Apply for Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) leave or other leaves, if qualified.
  5. Apply for the other exemption, i.e., either medical or religious exemption depending on which initial exemption was applied for and denied.
