Student Spotlight: Danielle Davis
The third time was a charm for El Camino graduate Danielle “Dani” Davis, who set her sights on attending Clark Atlanta University and finally achieved her goal in fall 2026. Since 2023, the outstanding student was accepted three separate times to the prominent Georgia university, but financial circumstances kept her from her dream. Undeterred, she chose a resilient path: enrolled full-time at El Camino while balancing a part-time job, classes, scholarship applications, and the transfer process.
Her hard work paid off. Davis graduated with honors this past spring and was accepted to Clark Atlanta again – this time as a transfer student. She also earned several scholarships to help fund her education, including the Ken Brown Memorial Scholarship – named in memory of the former ECC Board of Trustees president, which is helping to get her one step closer to becoming the first Historically Black Colleges and University (HBCU) graduate in her family.
“Receiving the Ken Brown Memorial Scholarship reminded me that there were people who believed in my journey and wanted to help me keep going,” she said. “I’m extremely grateful for the support that helped me get here.”
Davis never gave up on her dream: she pivoted, kept working hard, and continued moving forward. She is now working toward a bachelor’s degree in mass media arts with a concentration in radio/television/film.
“El Camino gave me a path forward when my original plan didn’t work out,” she said. “It gave me the opportunity to keep working toward my goals, graduate with honors, and eventually make my dream of attending Clark Atlanta University a reality.”
