Student Spotlight: Stefanie Liebich
Outstanding 2022 El Camino grad Stefanie Liebich was an Honors Transfer Program member, a student-athlete, and held a part-time job while maintaining a 4.0 grade-point average. Her hard work led to her admission to the highly selective Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley, where she will continue her education in the fall. She was also named the 2022 El Camino College Presidential Scholar for the Business Division, a prestigious award that honors the college’s best and brightest.
Liebich has many great memories from the past two years, yet it was easy to name a favorite. She is a proud member of the women’s tennis team that claimed its first-ever state championship in 2022 and finished the year undefeated for the first time in program history.
“Making history with this special group was something unforgettable and will forever be a core memory that I deeply cherish,” she said.
Liebich enrolled in El Camino in 2020 after a gap year where she traveled internationally and completed internships. She didn’t know what to expect as the pandemic changed her initial idea of college and classes moved online.
“El Camino allowed me to reach my goals of transferring to my top university choice, particularly with help from the Honors Transfer Program,” she said. “HTP helped keep me on track and kept me motivated throughout my two years.”
Liebich said that even though she had a limited amount of on-campus college life due to the pandemic, El Camino stepped up and offered a comprehensive experience that included clubs, athletics, and interaction with professors and fellow students.
“The efforts made in adjusting to online were extremely appreciated as the staff created an environment where I felt encouraged to participate and learn,” she added. “Professors and coaches were quite impactful as they taught me to believe in myself, like they believe in me. My experience at El Camino College might have been a short two years, but it allowed me to meet some incredible friends and create some unforgettable, lifelong memories.”
