Guide for Job Seekers

Due to COVID-19, our in-person services will be limited. Our Office will be open for in-person appitments on Tuesday's and Friday's by appoitments only. Student employment services will be conducted remotely, by phone, email, or online Monday's, Wednesday's and Thuersday's.

UPDATE YOUR PROFILE IN JUST A FEW EASY STEPS.
To update profile

  1. Go to: https://elcamino.jobspeaker.com/#/students
  2. Click “Sign In”
  3. Click on “ECC LOGIN” (use your ELCO user/password for one-time sign-on)

After You Log In

  • When you log In for the first time, you will be prompted to complete an initial profile.
  • Update your settings by going to “My Account” (found in on the top right corner). Be sure to add an any additional emails that you check frequently.
  • Your major and courses have already been pre-loaded for you. Skills are automatically populated based on your major.
  • Additionally you can add skills you have acquired outside of your program/studies (past education, work experience, etc.).
  • Jobspeaker will automatically match you to jobs based on your skills so make sure to list them all!

Create Profile

  • By creating a profile, you are advertising your experience to all employers who post to the Jobspeaker site.
  • Make sure to enter all sections of the profile, including your contact information, education and work experience.
  • Always maintain professionalism.
  • You can create multiple profiles to match different positions and industries of interest to you.

Resume

  • You can automatically generate a resume once your profile is complete.
  • Go to the Profile tab and click on the Print PDF button; a resume will be saved in the documents section of your dashboard.
  • You can also scan in or take a picture of your professional resume and attach in the documents section.
  • Begin Job Search
    When searching the Job Board, you will see jobs matched to the skill sets you entered in the account page.
  • If you want to refine your search even more, you can click on the filter icon on the right and add search conditions, such as geographical location and title/description of the job.

On-Campus Application Process

Requirements for on-campus employment include the following:

  • Minimum of enrollment in six units
  • Complete job application in Jobspeaker to include three references (full name, addresses, and phone numbers)
  • Federal Work Study (if applicable)
  • Attached resume
