Online Prerequisite Clearance Process

Are you coming to El Camino from another college/university and need to take a class to transfer back to your home school? We got you. The Online Prerequisite Clearance Form is the convenient way to have prerequisites cleared to register for specific classes for the upcoming semester.

Additional Information

  • The Counseling Office can take up to five business days to process your request, especially during the registration period. If you need a clearance processed sooner, please use online Express Counseling for faster service.
  • If you are transferring to El Camino from another college/university and need your transcripts fully reviewed by a counselor, you can schedule a counseling appointment.

Steps for the Prerequisite Clearance Process

If you believe a course taken at another college or university meets the prerequisite for an El Camino College course you to enroll in, please submit a Prerequisite Clearance Form and appropriate documentation for review.

To submit a Prerequisite Clearance Form, please follow the prompts and complete the online form

Make sure that you fill out the form completely and that all attachments have your identifying information – name, student ID number, etc. Clearances with incomplete documents will be delayed and/or denied.

The hours of operation for the online prerequisite clearance processing are generally Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Fridays 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Emails received after hours will be reviewed the next business day. Allow three to five business days for processing online clearance requests. School holidays will delay processing time.
