Color Symbolism

Jade Green

Jade is one of the most revered materials in Mesoamerican cultures, held sacred by the Olmec, Maya, and Aztec civilizations.

For the Maya, jade was more than a precious stone—it was believed to hold the essence of life itself, symbolizing water, breath, fertility, and renewal.

The Olmec carved jade into spiritual figures and ceremonial tools, while the Aztecs associated jade with gods and royalty. In our logo, jade green represents life, sacred energy, and the strength of cultural memory.

Sun Gold

The golden yellow in our design pays tribute to solar deities widely honored across Mesoamerica, who represented light, time, growth, and transformation.

This color also symbolizes hope, clarity, and the illumination that education can bring. It reflects our students’ brilliance and the guiding light of cultural knowledge in their academic and personal journeys.

Connection to MICASA’s Mission and Vision

At MICASA, this logo is more than an image—it is a visual embodiment of our mission to uplift and empower Latina/o/x students through culturally relevant support, advocacy, and celebration. The use of Mesoamerican symbolism in our logo reflects our dedication to honoring the histories and epistemologies that have long been silenced or erased in mainstream educational spaces.

By centering Indigenous and ancestral knowledge in our identity, we affirm the brilliance and dignity of our students. We recognize that transformation happens when students are seen, heard, and celebrated—not in spite of their cultural backgrounds, but because of them.

Our vision calls for the dismantling of structural inequality and the reclamation of narratives that empower our communities.

In this spirit, our logo stands as a declaration: that our cultures are alive, our histories matter, and our students carry within them the strength of generations.
