By completing the degree or certificate requirements, the student will gain proficiency in various learning tracks that include, the design process, graphic communications, architectural history & theory and construction documentation. While immersed in these topics, students will be exposed to critical thinking, learn to analyze conditions and gain an understanding for the International Building Code (IBC) and local planning regulations and zoning ordinances.
Competencies will be assessed in accordance with the American Institute of Architects (A.I.A.) certification criteria. Students completing the program may expect to enter industry as an entry-level CAD draftsperson in an architecture firm or transfer to an university architecture program
At least 50% of the major requirements for the Associate in Science Degree must be completed at El Camino College.
