Comprehensive Integrated Planning Process

Overview

The Comprehensive Integrated Plan (CIP) is a fundamental document that guides everything we do in support of student success. It serves to guide planning, decision-making, and resource allocation at all levels of the College.  The Comprehensive Integrated Planning process involves reflecting on our identity and purpose as we review El Camino's mission, vision, and values.  The final result is a Comprehensive Integrated Plan with broad directional statements that informs the Educational Master Plan which then drives the Technology, Facilities, Staffing and Safety & Security Plans.

The next Comprehensive Integrated Plan will impact the College from 2023-2033.

Process to Date

A Strategy Steering Committee (SSC) has been convened to steward the Comprehensive Integrated Planning process.  The Strategy Steering Committee met in November 2021 to kick-off the Comprehensive Integrated Planning process.  The focus of this first meeting was on a framework for the internal and external landscape scan.  View the presentation here.

Since then, El Camino's Institutional Research and Planning team, guided by the input from the SSC, has been working closely with Alma Strategies, an external consultant, to review data on the internal and external environment.

In Spring 2022, all students, staff, faculty and managers were invited to reflect on El Camino's current vision, mission, and statement of values via an online survey.  This feedback will be used for subsequent discussions with the El Camino community.

Next Steps

In October-November 2022, all members of the El Camino community--faculty, staff, and students--will be invited to provide input into the Comprehensive Integrated Plan through focus groups, divisional meetings, townhall meetings, etc.  In January 2023, external members of the community will also have opportunities to provide input to inform El Camino's future.

To help prepare for these discussions, we will be providing key data insight throughout the Fall 2022 semester.  The data summaries below may provide context for deeper reflection regarding El Camino's future.

Strategy Steering Committee

The Strategy Steering Committee was convened in November 2021 through a process that brought together all constituent groups of the college: students, faculty, staff, students, and managers.  The Strategy Steering Committee members will meet throughout the Comprehensive Integrated Planning process through June 2023 to:

  • Provide information and insight to guide the Comprehensive Integrated Planning process.
  • Serve as a conduit to articulate the needs of their constituents while recognizing the needs of other stakeholders to collaboratively support College-wide interests.
