Student Spotlight: Frankee Granados

April 23, 2024 Torrance

Frankee Granados knew right away El Camino was the right choice for her. She got a head start on her college education by taking dual enrollment classes while still a student at Redondo Union High School and loved being a part of the ECC community. A first-generation college student, she found multiple resources, financial aid, and plenty of faculty and staff ready to help her along the way.

“The great thing about El Camino is that each and every student is supported, whether it be by a counselor, adviser, or professor; there is always someone rooting for you, rooting for your success,” she said.

Granados’ hard work paid off: the outstanding student was recognized for her achievements by the highly selective Jack Kent Cooke Foundation Undergraduate Transfer Scholarship program, which named her one of four semifinalists from El Camino. The prestigious national award supports students who have demonstrated exceptional academic ability, leadership, and service.

The political science major plans to transfer to a university in the fall to complete her bachelor’s degree. She credits her success to guidance from the First Year Experience, a program that helps students navigate the college environment.

“I would not be where I am today without the help of the First Year Experience Program,” she said. “FYE has guided me throughout my entire college experience, and I couldn’t possibly thank them enough.”
