CARE Services

CARE students receive grants, referral services, access to workshops, classroom supplies, and additional support services.

Services to Help You Succeed

CARE students have access to all EOPS services along with the additional services listed below. All CARE services are subject to change due to funding availability.

 
  • CARE students receive the following three times per semester:
    • Gas card or U-Pass
    • On-campus meal cards
  • Exam supplies are available to CARE students upon request from the CARE program. Please meet with the CARE Coordinator for additional information.

 

  • CARE Grants are awarded each spring and fall to CARE students who are in good academic standing.
  • CARE students need to make Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) each term or complete a SAP appeal to remain eligible for the grant.
  • CARE students must have a unmet financial need to be awarded a grant.

Harriet Buhai provides legal assistance and education to low-income community college students for family-law and/or domestic violence disputes, with an emphasis on those who are homeless or at risk of becoming homeless.

Services include:

  • Domestic Violence Cases
  • Child Custody Cases
  • Child Visitation 
  • Divorce 
  • Child Support (Collecting or Paying)
  • Spousal Support (Alimony)
  • Paternity 
  • Division of Community Property

Rainbow Services provides shelter and support to students impacted by domestic violence, empowering them to move beyond trauma, towards safety & stability.

  • 24-Hour Crisis Line

  • Support Groups
  • Children’s Services

The CARE office keeps up-to-date campus and community resources ranging from free children's dental for county recipients to domestic violence recovery programs to free laundry days to free community events.
