The Virtual Village Check In is an open forum for students to interact with each other, as well as, with counselors, tutors and staff to troubleshoot issues that have come up in their classes and in their lives. Students can ask questions about what is happening on campus, ask for referrals and get connected with resources.

We've flipped our traditional talent show to an UNtalent show — “un” meaning uninhibited, unforeseen, unexpected, unconventional talent emerging unlike any other. Our Untalent Show is when all bars are removed and all stops are let out regardless of "talent".

Amreen Karmali is an educator, activist, consultant and founder of The Real Talk Project. She has a Masters Degree in Education from Cal State Los Angeles and has presented her work at conferences around the nation. Dedicated to helping educate and empower children, youth, and adults around the most difficult of topics, Amreen's educational approaches focus on inclusive, experiential learning, with a full embrace of the culture and priorities of her partners. She proactively integrates with existing communities to serve students, parents, and educators of all ages and genders.

Ms. Sidney Hurd of the African American Quilters of Los Angeles will speak about how Story Quilts reflect identity and culture. She will have some of her own quilts on display.

What is Code-Switching? - Code switching is the ability to recognize that different scenarios require a change in speech among groups. A person must identify that a change in a social situation has occurred in order to switch codes.

This is a free event, open to all students.

She envisions a world where people no longer suffer from the wounds of oppression and believes that through these conversations we can create communities in which everyone can be free to be themselves!
