Financial Aid Help Desk

To protect your personal information, have your El Camino College student ID or any government-issued photo ID ready when working with the Financial Aid Office. Without a photo ID, we can only answer general financial aid questions. We recommend that you use a laptop or computer for Zoom. This will allow you to easily use the screen share feature and view documents with Financial Aid staff online.

The Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) and Loss of California College Promise Grant (CCPG) Appeal will be available on Tuesday, January 17, 2023. If you do not have a break in enrollment your appeal cannot be processed until the SAP Calculation is completed (estimated date: January 17, 2023). The deadline is Thursday, May 4, 2023 if you wish to appeal for Spring 2023.

If you need help with the appeal please speak to an ECC counselor for guidance and support or attend a SAP Appeal Workshop by clicking this link: Register Online. Remember the following when submitting the appeal:

  1. Attach documentation for each term you're not meeting SAP (2.0 GPA & 67% completion rate)
  2. If you do not know the exact reason you are submitting an appeal you can check your SAP status on the Financial Aid Self Service Portal 
  3. Attach your current counselor approved comprehensive educational plan or Lock-in-List (Maximum Time Frame Appeals Only)
  4. Appeal decisions may take up to three to four weeks depending on the number of applications received

Apply for Financial Aid FAFSA & California Dream Act Application

Apply now for Financial Aid and don't delay! Funds are limited so apply early and be ready for the 2022-23 or 2023-24 academic year. The 2022-23 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) or California Dream Act application application covers Fall 2022, Winter 2023, Spring 2023 & Summer 2023. If you are attending ECC in the summer, apply for the 2022-23 award year. The 2023-24 award year for financial aid begins in fall 2023.

If you want to apply in person at the ECC Financial Aid Lab (SSB-229) remember to bring your financial documents for you and your parent(s) as a dependent student. Examples of things to have are social security numbers, date of birth, tax returns or wages (W2). For additional information on the documents needed please visit FAFSA Help

Emergency Assistance

El Camino College is proud to announce that we are offering Tuition Relief for students in Spring 2023. The ECC Tuition Relief program is part of the Higher Education Emergency Relief Fund (HEERF) which is offering student debt relief to ECC students who have outstanding student balances. We are allowed to forgive student balances for our campus prior to Spring 2020, especially when the debt is preventing you from re-engaging in your pursuit of a college education.

Tuition relief is also being offered for Spring 2023 for all eligible students but you must apply to qualify. To apply, please click the following link for Tuition Relief Program application. Please note that applications will not begin processing until January 3, 2023.

The deadline to apply is Wednesday, March 1, 2023, at 11:59 pm.


El Camino has created the Warrior Emergency Grant to support students who may need additional financial support due to an emergency. The Warrior Emergency Grant committee determines eligibility and notifies applicants of its decision within fourteen (14) business days. The maximum award amount will be determined as requests for assistance continue to be accepted.

Starting now, Income eligible households who need financial assistance for unpaid rent and utilities will be able to apply for help through the CA COVID-19 Rent Relief program.

If you have experienced a financial hardship due to COVID-19, have past due rent or utilities, and have a household income that is not more than 80% of the area median income, you may be eligible to receive help to pay past due or future rent and utilities from the state of California.

Landlords and renters can verify eligibility immediately by visiting HousingIsKey.com, or by calling 833-430-2122, and if eligible, apply.
