Employee Resources

What is a Responsible Employee? 

  • An employee who is obligated to report incidents of alleged sexual violence to the Title IX Coordinator;
  • An employee who has the authority to take action to redress sexual violence;
  • An employee who has been given the duty of reporting incidents of sexual violence or any other misconduct by students to the Title IX Coordinator or other appropriate school designee; or
  • An employee to whom a student could reasonably believe has this authority or duty.

At ECCCD, Responsible Employees include:

  • All administrators
  • All faculty

Faculty are encouraged to include a statement in their syllabus outlining their reporting responsibilities and directing students to available resources. 

 

Title IX: You should know that if you reveal gender-based or sexual harassment, sexual assault, stalking, or intimate partner violence to any instructor, we are required by law to report the problem to the Title IX Coordinator. However, psychologists are not required to report to the Title IX and EEO Compliance Office. You can call Student Health Services at (310) 660-3643 or visit the SHS Website. 

 

If a student discloses that they are pregnant or have a pregnancy-related condition, please provide them with the Title IX Coordinator contact information and let them know to reach out to learn more about their rights under Title IX. 

If the student does not want the incident “reported” to the District, they may choose to share the information confidentially. 


On campus:

  • Student Health Services Employees (such as psychologists, medical health professionals, etc.)
  • LGBTQIA+ Confidential Point of Contact, Kenny Simkins, email: [email protected].

Off campus:

  • Pastoral counselors, sexual-assault resource centers (e.g., YWCA), psychologists, etc.

Title IX Records Request

Students - Athletics & Good Standing Institutional Disclosure Form

Our campus uses an online form to facilitate the information-sharing process across divisions. To start the form, there are two options:

  • 1) Current students or alumni should initiate this form if your current institution is requesting to check your student records as a Prospective Athlete, and/or you need a Good Disciplinary Standing report. You will complete the first section, and the form will route to the appropriate division(s) on campus (Title IX and EEO Compliance Office and/or Student Development Office). You will receive a copy once the process is complete (ensure you enter your email correctly). You must then send that copy to your requesting institution (it will not be sent on your behalf).
  • 2) An institution representative can initiate the form on behalf of the student. You will be required to upload a signed records release form from the student.

Pregnant and Parenting Students

Resources for Pregnant and Parenting Students
The Title IX Coordinator is a resource on campus for pregnant and/or parenting students who have questions about their rights, reporting a violation of rights, or who need assistance with requesting accommodations.

Pregnant and parenting students are granted specific rights and protections through Title IX. 

Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (“Title IX”), 20 U.S.C. §1681 et seq., is a Federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex—including pregnancy and parental status—in educational programs and activities.

This comprehensive assistance program is led by Generation Hope, an organization dedicated to ensuring all student parents have opportunities to succeed and experience economic mobility. 
The program aims to help students meet academic goals and graduate by offering guidance to parenting students through two years of mentoring and support.
