The policy of the El Camino Community College District is, in part, to provide an educational and employment environment in which no person shall be unlawfully denied admission, access or benefit to, nor employment in any program or activity that is administered, funded directly by, or that receives any financial assistance from the State Chancellor or Board of Governors of the California Community Colleges on the basis of race, color, national origin, sex (including sexual harassment), gender, sexual orientation, physical or mental disability, and age as required by Title VI, Title IX, Section 504, and the Age Discrimination Act. In accordance with California Senate Bill 1137, this protection also applies to discrimination or harassment based on any intersection or combination of these protected characteristics, recognizing that overlapping identities can create unique forms of prejudice and harm.
Employees, students, or other persons acting on behalf of the District who engage in unlawful discrimination as defined in this policy or by state or federal law may be subject to discipline up to and including expulsion or termination. Any retaliation against a person for filing a discrimination charge or making a discrimination complaint is prohibited.
The District has identified the Director of Title IX and EEO Compliance as the designated responsible employee for receiving all complaints of discrimination, harassment, and retaliation, and the designated coordinator under the ADA/Section 504, Title IX, and the Age Discrimination Act. Inquiries regarding compliance with these statutes and complaints may be directed to:
