Supporting students through every stage of their educational journey is a core priority at El Camino College. The Basic Needs Center provides vital assistance for students experiencing food insecurity, housing instability, or other challenges that may impact their academic success.
Through coordinated services, resources, and compassionate support, we work to remove barriers and help every Warrior stay focused on achieving their goals.

At the Basic Needs Center, you’ll find free and low-cost basic needs services, resources, and personalized
support designed to help you stay focused on your academic goals.
We proudly serve currently enrolled students at El Camino College.
Services Available to Students
Food & Nutrition
- Basic Needs Cupboards: Multiple locations across campus for quick snacks (see Cupboard Map)
- CalFresh: Assistance with the state nutrition program that helps individuals purchase food
- Warrior Pantry: Free healthy food options and toiletries
Clothing & Essentials
- Warrior Wardrobe: Free clothing, shoes, and household items
Housing & Stability
- Housing Support: Referrals and resources to help students secure temporary or long-term housing
Child Care & Family Support
- Child Care: Referrals to CARE & CalWORKs programs
Transportation
- Metro U-Pass: Discounted public transit program for eligible students
Technology
- Laptop Loan Program Referrals: Support connecting students to long-term technology loans

Eligibility:
- Students must be enrolled for the current term
- Students must have a valid ECC student ID number
- Students must fill out the Basic Needs Intake form

Our goal is to feed everyone who is in need, creating a community with Zero Hunger, Zero Waste. The community, (people who are not students at ECC) may utilize Warrior Pantry food services as a portion of our donations are provided directly by the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank. Check the income guideline to see if you are eligible to receive food from the Warrior Pantry. You will need to check in when you come to visit and bring your own bag for your food items. We have fresh fruits, vegetables and other pantry staples to provide each week.
Open Hours for the Community:
Community members may stop by the Basic Needs Warrior Pantry during our regular operating hours. We will be happy to serve you.
The Basic Needs Center accepts both monetary and item donations year round.
- Monetary Donations, visit Donate Online.
- Food Items: All non-perishable foods that are not expired
- Clothing and Shoes: We are currently accepting all sizes and types as long as there are no stains or holes. We also accept children's clothing.
Contact the Basic Needs Center to schedule an appointment to make a donation. Our team will assist you with transporting items from your vehicle.
