How to Complete the Path to Enroll

To complete the Path to Enroll and receive priority registration, new students must:

  • Attend a new student orientation
  • Complete math and English placement survey
  • Meet with a counselor to create an educational plan by April 30, 2021

Path to Enroll Instructions

Orientations are held weekly on Mondays at 4 p.m. and Tuesdays at 3 p.m. between January 11 and April 26.
Sign Up for Orientation

Please note: There is limited space in each orientation, so do not wait to sign up.

  • The math and English placement survey is located in your MyECC student portal.
  • The survey takes five to seven minutes to complete.
  • If you have questions about the survey, you can attend the New Student Orientation or email welcomecenter@elcamino.edu.


An educational plan is a road map of the classes you need to take to achieve your educational goals.

You must attend New Student Orientation in order to be invited to meet with a counselor.



  • Complete the South Bay Promise Application by April 30.
    • The South Bay Promise offers an affordable pathway directly from high school to college. Students enrolled as first-time, full-time students will have their first- and second-year fees waived. Additional services and counseling will be offered to students enrolled in the South Bay Promise.
  • Apply for financial aid by March 2.
    • Complete the FAFSA or CA Dream Act to maximize your opportunity to receive financial aid. For assistance with the application, the Financial Aid Office offers weekly workshops.
